ITINERARY

Day 1 - Reykjavik
Welcome to Reykjavik where you embark Scenic Eclipse to start your discovery of the world’s largest island – Greenland.

Day 2 - Snaefellsnes Peninsula
Sparkling fjords, dramatic volcanic peaks, sheer sea cliffs and vast lava flows beckon as you cruise in and around the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Look for the vast concentrations of bird species nesting on the treacherous Látrabjarg cliffs, and marine life in the waters of the Peninsula.

Discovery: With a flexible itinerary and depending on the conditions, take Scenic Discovery excursions by kayak or onshore for landings.

Day 3 - At sea
Cruise from Iceland across the Denmark Strait to the east coast of Greenland. The Discovery Team will enthral you with their knowledge and passion for this region. From your suite's verandah look for whales.

Day 4 - East Coast Fjords
Over the coming days explore Greenland's east coast, the fjords of Skjoldungen and Prins Christian Sund. Carving a breathtaking, naturally-formed path separating the mainland from the islands of Cape Farewell, Prins Christian Sund is one of Greenland's most scenic waterways. 105 kilometres in length, and flanked by magnificent glaciers and granite cliffs, this narrow passage is only accessible during the summer, when the largest ice blockades melt away. Scenic Eclipse brings you close to the glaciers, huge icebergs and imposing peaks for unmissable photo opportunities.

Discovery: Take Scenic Discovery excursions by Zodiac to view ice formations, paddle the kayaks to hear the ice cracking or step onshore for landings.

Day 5 - East Coast Fjords
Continue to explore the East Coast Fjords of Skjoldungen and Prins Christian Sund.

Day 6 - East Coast Fjords
Continue to explore the East Coast Fjords of Skjoldungen and Prins Christian Sund.

Day 7 - Narsaq
An agricultural town on the edge of a fjord, Narsaq is known for its Greenlandic 'cowboys', farms and interesting Norse history. Discover this quaint town and visit the Museum to learn about the Norse history

Discovery: Take a Scenic Discovery excursion by Zodiac or kayak, or take a hiking tour.

Day 8 - Nuuk
Nuuk means ‘majestic fjord views’ in Greenlandic. The capital and largest city in Greenland, Nuuk has been inhabited by many settlers over the centuries but the present town was only established in 1728. A guided tour through the picturesque Old Harbour reveals history and traditions that still remain strong.

Freechoice
Marvel at the mummies in the Greenland National Museum, or try the local Greenlandic beer at Greenland’s largest microbrewery. Alternatively, learn about Inuit culture at the Nuuk Art Museum.

Day 9 - Disko Bay
Spectacular days await as you cruise Disko Bay. Ilulissat is named from the Inuit word for ‘iceberg’. Formerly called Jakobshavn, the town is best known for large number of icebergs issuing from the nearby Ilulissat Icefjord, into which one of the world’s fastest moving and most active glaciers calves 46 cubic kilometres of ice annually. Listen for the rumbling sounds in the distance of the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier ‘calving’ icebergs.

Discovery: Scenic Discovery excursions by Zodiac, kayak or go onshore for landings.

Day 10 - Disko Bay
Continue to cruise Disko Bay.

Day 11 - Disko Bay
Continue to cruise Disko Bay.

Day 12 - Kangerlussuaq > Copenhagen
Your cruise ends this morning in Kangerlussuaq as you bid farewell to the crew and fly to Copenhagen.
